Flamenco is fantastic for improving

  • posture
  • body awareness
  • coordination
  • fitness
  • strength (upper body, lower body and core)
  • cultural understanding
  • your sense of rhythm and percussion (rhythms range from simple to highly complex)
  • self understanding and confidence!
Unlike many other dance forms, being able to dance flamenco professionally (or to a proficient level) is not reliant on your height, age, looks, weight or
flexibility. In truth, almost anyone can dance flamenco if they work hard and are not afraid to express themselves. This is one of the most endearing
qualities of the art of flamenco dance. Ultimately, a proficient flamenco dancer need only work hard to master the body disciplines including arm
work, core/torso strength, hand movements and footwork. Then with time, individual style and self expression can be explored as skills develop and
personal confidence grows.
With all this mind, even by the end of beginners course students can endulge in some foot-stomping fun, percussive sounds, whippy turns and graceful
upper body work. Flamenco is a fun and satisfying way to get fit, improve rhythm and coordination, and it gives the dancer an opportunity to explore and
express honest emotions through dance. Anyone can dance flamenco with hard work, perseverence and passion!
