6:30-8:00pm Cajón Percussion Class selected Fridays. *Term 3 offers 5 classes on 14/8, 21/8, 11/9, 18/9, and 25/9. *Term 4 offers 5 classes on 16/10, 13/11, 20/11, 27 Nov, and 11 Dec.
For Beginners
Beginners: Fundamental comprehensive technique and an exploration of fiesta styles of Flamenco.
Beginner 2s & Lower Intermediate: Dancers with previous dance experience or 1 year of total beginners can enjoy this step up level. With higher leveled technique than beginners, coordination exercises and short choreographies. This class is designed to bridge beginners into developing more complex abilities.
For all students
Castanets class
A class to develop knowledge and technique to dance with Flamenco castanets with a focus on different choreographies each year.
Bata de Cola, Manton & Abanico Technique and Choreography
An opportunity to learn a range of techniques to dance with bata, manton and abanico effectively. After fundamentals are taught we aim to buld choregraphies that can be performed in our annual showcase.
Cajón Technique and Accompaniment
Join Roger Gonzalez and Roshanne Wijeyeratne for classes in palmas and cajón. Learn funky rhythms and learn how to accompany in an musical ensemble. These classes run from 6:30-8pm on selected Fridays.
Flamenco theory, songs and palmas class
Develop your Flamenco song repertoire, palmas, compas, and learn the structure of Flamenco singing. Flamenco dance is based on the knowledge of Flamenco song structures, so this is in invaluable class for all Flamenco dancers.
Intermediate Classes
Intermediate Technique and Choreography:
Our intermediate levels are varied with a lot of options for those dancers emerging from beginners all the way up to strong upper intermediate levels pushing towards advanced leves. Intermediate classes focus on highly-coordinated footwork, turns, arms, hands and rhythmic development with a focus on choreography and an annual showcase giving professional theatre experience every August.
Advanced and Professional Classes
Advanced: Generally for dancers with over 10 years ongoing experience in learning and performing Flamenco in professional environments. Please inquire before attending. Comprehensive and intense technique for dancers ready to bridge into advanced levels with a focus on more complex choreographies.
Company: Company classes are specifically for Compania Alma Flamenca. We house an award winning dance and music company with training, professional development opportunities, performances and touring opportunities.
